Finishing Options

What is it? What can we offer you.

You might want to add a little colour or texture to your product, we have a wide range of finishing options available.

The right finish and colour can transform a drawing into a product. Whether you’re looking for a functional finish like Hard Anodising for a hard-wearing corrosion resistance surface or an aesthetic finish like soft-touch or high-gloss paint, look at your wide range of options here.

Anodising - Anodizing is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. The process is called anodizing because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrolytic cell.

Black Oxide – Black oxide is a conversion coating for ferrous materials, stainless steel, copper and copper-based alloys, zinc, powdered metals, and silver solder. It is used to add mild corrosion resistance, for appearance and to minimize light reflection.

Brushed – Brushed is metal with a unidirectional satin finish. It is produced by polishing the metal with a 120–180 grit belt or wheel then softening with an 80–120 grit greaseless compound or a medium non-woven abrasive belt or pad. Commonly brushed metals include stainless steel, aluminium and nickel.

Electroplating - Electroplating is a process of depositing a layer of any desired metal on another material by means of electricity. The term is also used for electrical [oxidation] of [anion]s on to a solid substrate, as in the formation of silver chloride on silver wire to make silver/silver-chloride electrodes

Electropolishing - Electropolishing, also known as electrochemical polishing, anodic polishing, or electrolytic polishing, is an electrochemical process that removes material and surface contaminants from a metallic workpiece, reducing the surface roughness by levelling micro-peaks and valleys, improving the surface finish.

Heat Treated - Heat treatment involves the use of heating or chilling, normally to extreme temperatures, to achieve the desired result such as hardening or softening of a material. Heat treatment techniques include annealing, case hardening, precipitation strengthening, tempering, carburizing, normalizing and quenching.

Powder Coating - Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint, which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

Bead Blasting – or sand blasting, is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, and remove surface contaminants.
